Celebrating ten years of Christmas trees - 23-11-2017
35-foot Christmas tree presented to the people of Woking Borough by WABF

Elders from the Muslim community and Imams from Woking Shah Jahan Mosque joined representatives from the Woking Asian Business Forum (WABF) and The Mayor of Woking, Cllr Graham Cundy, in Jubilee Square on Thursday 23 November, to present a 35-foot Christmas tree to the people of Woking Borough.

Celebrating the tenth year that the WABF has sponsored the feature, which is a focal point for festive celebrations in the Town Centre, Shahid Azeem, Chair of WABF, said: “It is always a joy to help the people of Woking, and visitors to the town, welcome in the festive period with the gift of a Christmas tree. We could not have anticipated a decade ago that it would have become such a long-running tradition as it has.

“We are delighted that WABF has been able to support Woking’s Christmas tree for the past decade. Christmas is a time for friends and family to come together and a tree is an integral part of these celebrations. We hope that we can continue to sponsor the tree in Jubilee Square for many years to come.”

Mayor of Woking, Cllr Graham Cundy, added: “It is always a delightful time of year when the Christmas tree is installed in the Town Centre, in anticipation of the festive period.

“We are very grateful for the continued support of the Woking Asian Business Forum. It is a strong symbol of the community spirit that we enjoy in Woking, and a reminder that no matter what race or religion you are, Christmas is a time for giving and being thankful with a full heart.”
