We are looking for you - Can YOU be a Mentor? - 02-11-2012

Mosaic and HRH Price Charles

Mosaic is a national charity founded by HRH The Prince of Wales, to support students in schools around the country by providing mentoring support. WABF along with Woking Borough Council’s Invest in Your Success and Business in the Community are proud to be working with Mosaic at schools around Woking.

The Mosaic secondary school mentoring programme provides a package of opportunities to raise the aspirations of young people and close the gap between those aspirations and their attainment. The programme uses positive role models (mentors) to improve students’ confidence, self-efficacy and employability.

The head teacher from Bishop David Brown School in Sheerwater, Woking writes “The Woking Asian Business Forum has been involved with BDB for three years now as part of the Mosaic mentoring programme. Their involvement has been of huge benefit to the students, some of whom were underperforming having become somewhat disaffected with their education.”

Have you ever wondered about talking to Secondary school students about your experiences while growing up, mentoring them and helping them achieve all their potential?

We are looking to recruit a network of volunteer mentors to get involved in the mentoring and Enterprise Challenge programme. Through the national Enterprise Challenge competition, Mosaic also aims to develop entrepreneurial skills of young people. You as a mentor will be a part of the wider Mosaic network, which will offer invitations to a variety of regional and national events.

Mosaic website address is http://www.mosaicnetwork.co.uk . Please contact Sangeeta Patel at s.patel@wabf.org.uk to find out more about how to join a team of mentors and participate in this highly rewarding and satisfying experience…
