Tree brings a festive touch to square - 15-12-2011

A touch of festive cheer has been added to Woking town centre with the annual unveiling of the town Christmas tree. Donated to public by Woking Asian business forum (WABF) for the fourth year in a row, the tree is situated outside the entrance to the Peacocks shopping centre and will bring some much needed colour to the town square.

Members of the Forum gathered by the tree on Wednesday alongside WBC deputy CEO Douglas Spinks and Andy Calfe, neighbourhood team leader at the authority. Also present was Barney Trembley, a director of WABF who was happy to be able to bring some Christmas cheer to the people of Woking. She said ‘We want the tree to be seen as an important part of the community wishing all a ‘Merry Christmas’ This is our tradition and we are very excited about it. We are grateful to Woking Borough Council for giving us this opportunity to give the tree to Woking’
