During the past 35 years with the BBC Garry has interviewed some of the biggest stars from the World of Sport, Show Business and Politics.
Dr Vicki Hansford first appeared on the local sports radar when she started work at UniSport, the University of Surrey Sports Department as a Sports Development Officer in 2002. A committed and caring professional, with a well developed interest in providing opportunities for young people who did not always enjoy the same advantages as others. This became extremely ironic as her life developed and she found real sporting success in Adaptive Rowing, where her boat, technically known as the “legs trunk and arms mixed coxed four,” won the World Championship in 2006 in a new World Record time. As if training and competition on top of a full-time job were not enough for her, she did a part-time Masters in Psychology at the same time and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Surrey in 2009 for her work in sport and her international achievements. She currently works for Sport England. |
