Woking Food & Drink Festival 2013

WOKING’S Jubilee Square was transformed into a food lover’s paradise for the first Woking Food and Drink Festival. The Woking Advertiser’s news editor Beth Duffell immersed herself in everything the festival had to offer, from tasting a smoothie made by pedal power, tucking into gourmet popcorn and learning from top chefs in the Tante Marie Culinary Academy Theatre.

Home Fire Risk Checks by Surrey Fire and Rescue

Home Fire Aftermoth

Is your home safe from fire?

All Surrey households can receive a FREE Home Fire Risk Check, as part of our on-going drive to reduce the number of fires in the county.

UK National Fire statistics show that in 2003, 447 people died in accidental fires in the home. More than three quarters of these deaths were in properties without a smoke alarm, or with a smoke alarm that did not work.

Fires can be prevented and a Home Fire Risk Check will help you to do so.

Home Fire ProtectionThe Home Fire Risk Check will involve a visit from your local fire station at a convenient time for you. Firefighters will use a simple questionnaire to look at potential problem areas in your home and offer advice on the installation and maintenance of smoke alarms. They will also give guidance on how to stay safe from fire including kitchen hazards, safe disposal of smoking materials, candles, heaters, electric blankets and dangers from harmful substances. The Home Fire Risk Check focuses on the three key areas of fire safety - Prevention, Detection and devising an Escape Plan.

To arrange a FREE Home Fire Risk Check within Surrey Contact Surrey Fire and Rescue Service by calling us on 0800 085 0767 or complete an online request form at www.surrey-fire.gov.uk/besmartbesafe
